Describe your studio culture:
The studio culture at Keene State I would describe as supportive. There is always someone in the studio that I know I could ask for help from them, especially upperclassman when I was an underclassmen.
Give one tip that has helped you succeed in your studio:
One tip that has helped me a lot was to use the studio space to do your work, it helps me focus on the task at hand, there is a lack of distractions and there are always people you can ask for an opinion or help.
What motivates you to work hard in studio?
Knowing that each time I come into the studio I will progress my work, pushing it further and being able to create a new design or think of a different aspect that I didn’t the day before.
What aspect of your studio experience do you think will help you get a job?
Being able to work in a space with others, and share the space with others which allows me to not only work independently but also working together in a group or another individual.
What can professors do to create a helpful and supportive studio culture?
Encouraging their students to use their studio as a productive and fun space. Fun being you’re able to create relationships with the students around you and becoming friends and productivity if they use that space for their work and get into a routine of going to the studio to work.
What should a high school student understand about studio at your university?
Our studio is open, supportive, resourceful and a learning experience. You’ll always have support whether it is a professor or peer, you’ll be able to find examples of other students work in and around the studio, and you’ll learn to be able to work in a space as an individual and with your peers.
What can AIAS do to help improve your studio experience?
Providing insight into what other school’s/universities studios are like, both physically and culturally.
What would be in your ideal studio care package?
Drafting tape, trace paper, individual and group work space
