The Beyond Architecture Campaign

The most compelling reason to invest in the AIAS campaign is to help build an enhanced organization that will result in improved chapters and schools, a stronger profession and a better served society through architecture.

Our campaign will make a lasting impact on past, present and future members, disadvantaged individuals, local communities and the architecture profession as a whole. The Beyond Architecture Campaign seeks to raise a minimum of $2,000,000 to assist our organization in accomplishing membership and program goals for Freedom by Design™ and for premier initiatives for emerging leaders.

The AIAS provides a valuable experience for members preparing for a career in architecture and design by offering stimulating, challenging and tangible opportunities to connect them to the “real world” on a multitude of levels. Members explore career opportunities, develop leadership skills, network, gain valuable group-based experiences, learn the importance of community involvement, appreciate diversity and gain practical knowledge about construction, design and building materials. These areas of exploration go far beyond a student’s typical classroom experience. Premier AIAS programs that provide such experiences include: Freedom by Design™, which promotes students and architects as servants to the community; and emerging leader initiatives like the Grassroots Leadership Conference and FORUM.

The growing demand for talented professionals within the industry presents a unique opportunity for the AIAS to greatly impact the next generation of the profession, challenging the AIAS to do even more. The arrival of our 50th Anniversary in 2006 signaled a tremendous opportunity to strengthen our membership and expand the services and programs that truly embody our mission and address critical skills, competencies and practices for the emerging leaders of tomorrow.

The Impact of the AIAS

The AIAS will impact society by strengthening and developing unique community outreach programs. The AIAS will foster future generations of professionals who are prepared to take active leadership roles in the profession and in the industry, and who are ready to address critical societal matters. As involved citizens, leaders and policymakers on local, national and global scales, these future leaders will be addressing needs for healthy and sustainably designed buildings in our neighborhoods and communities, and will be dealing with issues such as affordable housing, mass transportation and universal design. The vision of the AIAS is to go beyond architecture and enrich the communities and environment in which we live.

How You Can Help

We seek financial support from new and existing corporate and industry partners, architectural firms, collateral organizations, academia, regional and national philanthropic foundations, legacy and alumni of AIAS (NASA and ASC/AIA), individuals and families across the country and leaders in the profession. AIAS campaign volunteers will seek substantial financial support in the form of pledges, payable over three to five years, from potential donors. Gifts in cash, stock and securities transfers will also be accepted. The AIAS is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization. Gifts and pledges to the campaign are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
